FML

I think yesterday qualifies for worst day ever.  I get up, get ready for work, go out to my car, put the key in the ignition and… nothing.  Car won’t start.  So I call a tow truck.  Luckily the guy is able to get it started and I take it directly to the shop.  So, $400 later I have a new starter in the car.  I get to work 2 hrs late, deal with the usual idiots and then Jenna calls.  Turns out her work is laying off about 25 people and she has to awesome fortune to be one of them.  The good thing is that they gave about 2 months notice.  So she will be out of a job in June and finishes school in July.  Hopefully it won’t be hard for her to find a job after July.  So, after all this I go into work at the theater and Jenna calls to let me know that she cannot drive her car (which she picked up from the shop a couple days ago) because none of the rear lights work.  Well, the turn signals work.  But there are no tail lights and no break lights.  Which means it’s illegal for her to drive and extremely unsafe.  So, back to the shop it goes!

Car go BOOM… again.

Jenna managed to become invisible again causing another driver to rear-end her.  She is fine and the car is being fixed.  At first they were talking about totaling it but the damage appears to not have been as extensive as originally estimated.  So, two weeks with a rental car and the car should be fixed.  I’m thinking we might need to add a sign or something to the back of her car since the grey color seems to not be noticeable.

Not done yet.

Not according to me anyway.  The body shop said it was finished.  It was ready to be picked up.  Unfortunately they didn’t realize I was going to actually look at the car before I accepted it.  The paint job was done poorly, the rear cargo and rear passenger side doors were hung incorrectly and the underside has been scratched by one of their machines.  I told them to let me know when it was actually finished.  If it’s not done this time I will be taking to someone more competent which may end up totaling the car due to added cost.

In other news, we still haven’t sold the town house.  Supposedly a friend of a friend is interested but we haven’t heard anything about that in a few days.  Maybe one day it will sell.  Our contract with our Realtor is up this Sunday.  So, if the FoF isn’t interested enough to make an offer soon I guess we will have to get a new one.

The Saga Continues…..

So, I called the auto body shop today to ask if my car was still on target to be ready this Friday. The response was, not this Friday. We have painted the inside door jams and the wheel hubs however we still have to put the car back together, cover it up with plastic before we can paint the out side of the car. Then, we have to reinstall the glass and take the car to the muffler shop to see if the muffler and tail pipes can be fixed or if it needs to be replaced.

The tail pipes underneath the car were damaged too.

They could not promise or guarantee that the vehicle would be ready next week. The estimate will also go up; how much depends on whether the replace or repair the muffler and the tail pipes.

So, as of next Friday, the body shop will have had my car, that isn’t totaled, 51 days. I find that quite ridiculous considering that I probably won’t get it back until the following week.

We haven’t done much to the house at all. We can barley make it home at the end of the day. With me in school and working full time, Jason working both the full and part time job and I just started back part time at the Hallmark store, we have no energy to do anything. Keep your fingers crossed for us, that we sell the town house soon. It has really taken a toll on us.

Car update

Well, we got a nice call from Enterprise the other day saying that Nationwide was no longer paying for the car.  So I immediately called NW and asked what was going on.  Turns out the body shop was taking too long so NW stopped paying the rental car and that the body shop is going to pay for it now.  Of course what Enterprise told us is that we would be paying for it.  Lack of communication rocks.  Well, while I was on the phone with the CR from NW (who was awesome btw) I decided to go a head and file a complaint reguarding the two adjustors working on the claim.  The medical adjustor was supposed to have sent us a reimbursement check but never did.  The auto adjustor, well, I haven’t spoken to him in about a month.  In my mind he should have been calling weekly with updates.  Granted I didn’t NEED to speak with him and never tried to call him about anything but it’s the principle.  Needless to say both of their managers responded rather quickly and helped restore my faith in the company as a whole.  The auto manager will be going to the shop tomorrow to discuss a few things with the them and our car will be one of them.  Apparently the shop was supposed to be contacting us on a weekly basis.  I will say that they did call back when we initiated contact, but they have only called us once or maybe twice in the last month.  Definitely not weekly.

Oh and the top things off.  Jenna called the body shop today and instead of the car being done tomorrow, it wont be until next Friday.  Stupid body shop.

New Pictures

Well, apparently the pictures I thought I took of the finished out weren’t actually taken.  But I do have two new pictures of the outside of the finished house.  Sorry everyone waited for pretty much nothing.

As most of you know Jenna was in a wreck last week.  She is for the most part okay but is having some pain and tingling in her arm.  She is also having some memory issues that the doctor attributes to stress and pain.  This could very well be true she still a CT scan today just to make sure nothing got damaged.  She will also likely need an MRI if her arm and hand issues don’t clear up.  We’ll keep you posted.  I put some pictures up of the car if you are interested.  Right now we are looking at about $5,000 in damages but that insurance company says it’s not totalled yet.  There is also some frame damage but the body shop and the adjuster insisted that it can be repaied and be fine.

Oh, and make things even better.  They guy didn’t have insurance.  How awesome is that?

Not totaled yet?

Seriously! At this point the damage done to my vehicle is roughly 5K, including the bent frame that the body shop and Nationwide plan to have fixed. Now they may find more once they start repairing the damage. The car is still not totaled. I am afraid that it will take another 4 grand to do so. Does that just seem ridiculous to anyone other than me? Can’t wait to get my bent frame car back! Oh! Can I please have it back? So, why haven’t they totaled it yet? Got me!

Car Go Bang!

Yes, tis true; someone has smashed into the back of my Rav4. Car Go Bang made for an interesting week. Last Wednesday at about 5:32 PM on Rock Quarry Road an Italian man decided he wasn’t going to use his breaking system and used mine instead. I saw him coming I just couldn’t get out of the way fast enough and right up underneath of my car he went.

No one stopped. No one called the police. My cell phone? I left it at home on the counter. Now, some of you know how paranoid I can be at times. We all watch the news and see the freakish stories. I was terrified that I would be on the 6 o’clock news and not in a good way.

At about the time where I started loosing consciousness the man who so abruptly introduced his car to mine called Jason. Jason had asked me if I had called the cops. All I could say is no, you need to do that. I am glad he did.

The driver, with only a license to drive fleet cards and no insurance had asked me several times not to call the cops. Not that I could with having leftl home without my phone. I felt stranded!

My car did not look all that damaged however, the back doors do not open anymore. The muffler makes a beautiful put-put-put and the weather stripping on the front windshield is all wrinkled. I called the body shop today (the car has been there since last Thursday) and I was told the car is still not finished being evaluated. I am okay with that. I would rather them take the time and do it right. When I asked him how it was looking his exact words were, “Look’ in kinda rough” and I just couldn’t believe it.

We will be mailing out our new address cards within the next week. I will say I was able to get them super cheap thanks to www.vistaprint.com. They aren’t spectacular but they do the trick.
