Selling the house

Well, like Jenna said, we have buyers for the house. They got the house inspected yesterday and there are a couple things wrong. The garbage disposal isn’t working right and one of the bedroom doors upstairs doesn’t shut all the way. Probably just due to the wood warping a tiny bit over the years. But then the stupid inspector didn’t notice there are 3 switches in the Master Bedroom and that one of them controls an outlet. So he put in his report that “neither switch controlled the outlet” and “that it was a fire hazard.” Of course, I will admit it was partially our fault. We left the remote control mount over the switch that controlled the outlet. But he still should have noticed that the plate was WAY oversized for the only two switches that he could see. We are getting a quote on the garbage disposal.

Unfortunately with all the debt we’ve accrued over the last 10 months (yeah it’s been that long since we put the house on the market) we won’t be able to pay off all our bills with the profit from the house. Not by a long shot. So, in order to keep from having a mental breakdown from working so much and having so many bills I’m going to have to sell some thing. Actually I will be selling about 75% of my art collection along with a lot of the collectibles I’ve acquired over the years. Not to mention that after, 18 years, I’m going to have to stop buying comic books. After the bills are paid off I may or may not start getting the comics again. I hope I will be able too. I enjoy reading them and the fact that the stories never really end. But right now the priority is getting the bills done which means about another 13-14 months of 70 hr work weeks. That is if the theater doesn’t fire me first.

If you haven’t heard already Consolidated Theatres is selling to Regal (the guys who run North Hills and Brier Creek). The deal is about 95% done. The problem is that they don’t pay their people as much, and they don’t have projectionists. They have managers that run the booth. That way they can get around the union which is still present up north. What this means is that they may ask me to take a pay cut, they may just fire me (so they can hire someone else to do the job for less money) or they may just role me into management which means I will have to work one shift on the floor a week probably. But we won’t know anything until the deal is completed, which will be in a couple months supposedly.

Oh, and we got a tree in our front yard now, a ten foot tall maple tree. But we told them we didn’t want the sod yet since the drought and water restrictions will just kill it this summer. We are going to wait until around September to get the sod. That way it will hopefully root over the slightly wetter winter.

Other than all that, not much is going on. Lots of fun, right?

Congratulations to me!!!!

I did it! I passed! Today I passed the North Carolina state certification test for Nurse Aide I. I feel high as a kite right now! I hope to start working part time as a CNA at Wake Med or Rex.

Thanks for believing in me!!!!!

More vacation time

So, after being here for two long grueling years they have upped my vacation time.  I now earn 9 hours and 10 minutes per month.  Not bad.  Of course it would be better if this a job you felt like you could actually take a vacation.  As it is, if you leave your work just piles up and you can really screw yourself in the long run.  But at least I have the ability to take if I ever get ahead of the crushing ball of work.

I got a new job

Sort of.  Instead of working on Social Security Disability cases I will be working on Medicaid cases.  It’s the same building and same pay.  It’s a little different in how cases are processed and the rules we have to follow are a little different, and less strict.  The up side is that there are no more QA reviews and no more stupid SSA policy changes.  Overall, I think the job will be a better fit for me though and that’s what matters.
